The temple is facing east with a spacious Maha Mandap, Bali Peeta and Nandhi Mandapam.  Lord Vinayaka and Lord Muruga are outside the sanctum.  Worshipping Lord Arthanareeswara in His Linga form brings the devotee of worshipping Lord and Mother - Shiva-Shakti together.  The Shivalinga is big in size mounted on an Avudayar – Peeta of a radius of 3.5 feet.

Of the many forms of Lord Shiva, Arthanareeswara belong to Satyo Jatham – facing west.  Devotees worshipping Arthanareeswara reap the benefits they desire in this birth and also in that to come.  Worshipping Lord Shiva here is believed to be worshipping Him in many sacred shrines as this Shiva Linga is said have been brought from Mount Kailash.

Mother Tripura Sundari graces the devotees from a separate shrine left of the Lord facing south.  The Navagraha-9 planets shrine is nearby.  On the right of the presiding deity, is the shrine of Lord Lakshmi Narayana Perumal.  Sri Garuda Bhagwan shrine is opposite to Perumal.  There is also a shrine for Sri Anjaneya.  There are also procession deities for all Gods in the temple.

  Temple History:

About two centuries back, an old man of this place arranged cleaning of the tank in his land when it became dry.  The idols of this temple were found from this tank.  They were immediately cleaned and placed in a tent with a thatched roof.  Worshipping began with lighting lamps.  The temple was built later.  As the deity was under water for a long period, He is also praised as Jalakandeswarar.  As worshipping this Shivalinga would amount to joint worshipping of Shiva and Shakti, the Lord of the temple is called Arthanareeswarar.
