Greatness Of Temple: | |
Devotees from Andhra Pradesh planning a pilgrimage to Tirupathi and Srirangam in Tamilnadu, begin the journey from this temple hoping that the journey would not only be comfortable physically but would also bring them immense benefits in life. Great scholar noted for his erudite lectures on spirituality, Sri Mukkoor Lakshmi Narasimha Acharya conducted a yajna in this temple in 1992 paving the way for wider popularity. Though small in size, this is a temple pregnant with live divinity. Though a small village, Vadavalli is fertile with two rivers Krishna and Moosi running in L shape. This is the first of the five Narasimha sthalas in Andhra Pradesh. The idols of Lord Sri Rama, Mother Sita and Kaingarya Prabhu Sri Lakshmana look very alluring. Mother Maha Lakshmi graces from a separate shrine. Sri Garuda and Sri Hanuman vahans look differently. |

Temple History: | |
Millenniums ago, Sage Agasthya travelled to all the three worlds carrying some idols. He came to earth. A voice told him that a Narasimha idol is hidden at the confluence of two rivers Krishna and Moosi and that he should take it out and install at the place. Though a Shiva devotee, Agasthya took the divine command on his head and did the work as directed. Knowing this, Sage Veda Vyasa came to the place and found Lord Narasimha furious as hot breath was emanating from Him. Vyasa concluded that Lord would have come to this place sooner destroying Hiranya. After long years, kings of the place came to know of this history. They arranged pujas to the Lord. After some years, the temple was reduced to ruins and the idol too was buried under the ground. During the 4th century, the history came to light again. One Reddy Rasulu created a town here. While digging the ground, the idol also was found. He built the temple in the year 1377 and installed Lord Narasimha in the place. The priest noticed the breathing from the idol. He held one lamp near the nostrils of the idol. The lamp – burning wick – moved here and there but the one held at the feet remained still. The miracle still exists in the temple.
