 Greatness Of Temple:
     
  There is a Maha Mandap at the entrance of the temple followed by the Artha Mandapa.  On the left side of this Mandap Periasami appears in the form of a trident facing east.  Saptha Kannikas grace from the sanctum sanctorum facing east.  The sacred tree of the temple is on the northern prakara called Aavi with Lord Vinayaka gracing at the bottom.  There is also a tree called Azhinji Maram on the north prakara.  It is said that the idols of Saptha Kannikas were originally under this tree only.  They were shifted to the sanctum after the temple was built.  This tree is also called Oonjal tree – Swing Tree.  On the eastern prakara is Minna tree aged 50 years.  There two Naga Devadhas under this tree.
Saptha Kannikas are the family deities for many in this place.  Festival is celebrated here only once in 12 years.  People in the surrounding areas perform the tonsuring and ear boring ceremonies for their children in this temple.   Devotees believe that praying to Saptha Kannikas would help the continuity of their families generation by generation.
  
     
  Temple History:
     
  Once, a canal in Vairampalayam was in spate threatening breach of the banks.  Two men were returning that way after hunting.  They saw a box was floating in the current.  They braved the current, caught the box, opened it and found clay dolls, a sickle, ear palm leaves called Kodholai in Tamil, and a chain of black pearls.  They simply placed the box under a tree and left the place.
All these articles appeared in the dream of a devotee.  A voice told him that the articles from the canal were but Kannimar deities and a temple should be built for them.  The devotee informed the matter to the people of the village.  All joined together and built this temple
