  A 10 day festival in Panguni (March-April) is grandly celebrated in the temple.  
     
 Temple's Speciality:
     
  This Shakti shrine is on the right of the Shrine of Lord Shiva as in the temples of Tirunelveli, Madurai and Rameswaram.

 General Information:
     
  Mother Sandhana Mariamman was on small peeta in the year 1960.  Now the temple is large in size with 21 feet Rajagopuram.

  Devotees pray to Mother Sandhana Mari seeking remedy for acute stomach pain and pray to Nagadevi for relief from the negative impact of Rahu and Ketu planets.

 Greatness Of Temple:
     
  Sage Jamadagni was killed by a demon called Karthaveeriyan.  His wife Renuka decided to die with him and fell on the pyre.  Suddenly rain began and the fire was put out.  With burns in the body, Renuka was washed away in the floods and was stuck near a tree.  To endure the burn injuries she wrapped herself with neem leaves, applied sandal in the body and consumed Koozh the liquid food.  It is said that such rituals are followed in Mariamman worship based on this story.  Renuka also performed penance on Mother Parvathi who appeared before her and offered Her Shakti to Renuka.  As she had a body covered with sandal and quenches the heat stricken minds of the people, she is praised as Sandhana Mari.  People pray to Mother Sandhana Mari as She heals heat related diseases as stomach ache etc.
There is a shrine for five headed Nagadevi in the temple.  Those suffering from the impact of Rahu-Ketu planets, pray here with milk abishek to Nagadevi.  She also grants child boon to devotees worshipping her with all faith.
  
     
  Temple History:
     
  Sage Jamadagni was a scholar in conducting yajnas.  His wife Renuka had the attributes of Mother Ambica and was the daughter of Raivadhan.  He had four sons, Thannuvan, Anuvan, Vishvavasu and Parasurama.  Parasurama was an incarnation of Lord Vishnu.  With the power of her chastity, Renuka had the skill of making pots with river sand.  She will bring water from the river in new such pots each day.  One day as she was making the sand pot, she saw the reflection of a Gandharva flying on the sky and for a moment was stunned by his handsomeness and lost the power of making sand pots.  Jamadagni realized the incident with his wisdom eye and decided to award the capital punishment to her and asked Parasrama to behead his mother.  As the rule goes, the word of father should not be violated, Parasurama killed his mother.  Pleased Jamadagni asked his son his wish.  Parasurama demanded his mother back which Jamadagni could not deny.  Since then, Mother Renuka had become Mother Mari Amman blessing people with health and prosperity. The shrine of Mother in the temple is on the right side of Lord Shiva shrine as in the temples of Madurai, Tirunelveli and Rameswaram.
