The word ‘Kadi’ is derived from the word ‘Kadigai’. Of the 108 celebrated Vaishnavite shrines belonging to Lord Vishnu, three has the suffix Kadigai 1) Sholingapuram known as Tirukadigai, 2) Kandam as Kadinagar in the North, and the one in Kerala as Tirukadithanam. It is firmly believed by the devotees that a prayer just for a second with a pure and dedicated mind on Lord in this place would benefit him/her with success in all efforts and total salvation. It is also said that Perumal in the temple acquires fresh energies once in 60 years and would merge in the space as a lightning towards the end of Kaliyuga. | |
