The special feature of the temple is the shrine of Lord Maha Bhairava in the northeast corner of the inner prakara made of a green stone. In the third round of the prakara are the eight serpents – Anandan, Vasuki, Dakshakan, Karkodagan, Sangan, Padman, Mahapadman and Kuligan. This belongs to the Thoonganai Mada temple category with three Kalasas on the Vimana – tower above the sanctum Sanctorum. | |
